For some people, holidays are a great opportunity to get together with their loved ones and spend time playing board games or walking in the park for example. For me, it was a great chance to once again comprehend the wonderful world of science.

I started my year with the end of editing an article about NATO. This is my second article in a row, but the first article to be published. I had to work hard with it: I had to re-read it over and over again to correct all the mistakes. Of course, it seemed a little boring to me, because I did not learn anything new from my already written article, but I liked the editing process and I felt how carefully I should treat some details. This gave me some experience working with scientific projects and I am sure that such experience will be useful to me.

On the 3rd day of the new year 2021, I have already started a new article. I racked my brain for a long time, because I didn’t understand at all what I wanted to write about. Fortunately, I remembered the competition held by the Russian Academy of Sciences. They are waiting for the works devoted to the Eastern theme and I thought it was interesting. As you may have noticed, I like to study the Middle East, because in such a small area there are events that affect the whole world. And although I’m going to become neither Orientalist, nor “Iranian scholar” , I chose the topic of Iran again. My topic this time is not only about the Iranian energy sector, but also its impact on the Iranian crisis (2019–2020), which is escalating today. Every day, major changes are taking place in the countries of the Middle East. For example, the conflicting countries (Israel, Saudi Arabia and others) began signing a number of peace treaties. Perhaps this step will be the first to block Iran or even lead to a big war in the Arabian Peninsula. I am still working on my new article and I hope that it will attract attention in Moscow.

Another small achievement of mine was writing an essay on political science on the topic of lobbying in Germany. I had never studied this topic before and found it very exciting. There are a lot of secrets in lobbying, and perhaps one day I will consider it in more detail. Of course, for someone it will seem that my holidays were boring but for me they were a bold step in the new year. I hope this year will continue to be productive to me.

(P. S. I also wanted to say that I really miss my studies and I am very happy that we will meet again in class soon.
I hope our first session will be a challenge that we will all successfully cope with)
